Choosing your Urn Size

Most often your Funeral Director will be able to assist you with chosing the correct size for your loved one, but here are some guidelines to follow:

The capacity of urns are measured in cubic inches and the volume is determined by the weight before cremation with a 1:1 ratio. If your loved one weighted 120lbs, then they will need an Urn 120 cubic inches.

If you would like assistance, please feel free to give us a call. Custom sizes are available upon request with most Urns.

Guidelines below are based on doing a Conventional Cremation method. If you are using ashes from outside the U.S. or a Water Cremation method, you will need to confirm the measurements with your facilitator.

Keepsake: maximum capacity is 20 cubic inches
Small: 80 lbs – 119 lbs = 80 – 119 cubic inches
Medium: 120 lbs to 179 lbs = 120 – 179 cubic inches
Large: 180 lbs to 220 lbs = 180 – 220 cubic inches
XLarge and Companion: 220 lbs and above (call for special orders)

The size ratio is the same for pets as it is for humans 1:1 (lbs to cubic inches). The Pet Urn sizing is defined by Pet-Small, Pet-Medium, Pet-Large. If you are unsure of the size that you will need, please contact the facility.
