Personalization Options
Most of our urns have one or more options for personalization. The options are listed next to the urn, but below is a full description of each option available.
Bronze:
The discovery of bronze enabled people to create metal objects that were harder and more durable than previously possible which dates back as early as 5th millennium BC. We use a Precious Metal Clay that has particles of metal with a binding material, which can be shaped, stamped then fired in a kiln. It is a very strong metal that will not bend easily. This process will require a 1-2 week turn-around time.
Clay (slip):
Unless you have a custom made urn, it has been fired twice in an electric kiln. For very select pieces, we can offer to refire your piece for a third time (most often the lid) with a limited number of characters. This is the most durable and permanent method of personalizing your Urn. Since the slip is applied after the 2nd firing and your Urn has been glazed, the shrinkage is different and small cracking will appear within the lettering, which is normal and gives this a very authentic and artistic look. Usually requires a 3-4 week turn-around time.
Leaf
This option is added to the Nature Urn line as it is a hand made leaf that has been prefired and suspended by a chain. Your personalized name or phrase is limited to 24 characters with a choice of 3 different lettering styles. It is fired on to the leaf as a 3rd additional firing which will make it a permanent part of your urn. This process will require an additional 1-2 weeks turn-around time. There are 2 leaves suspended, which gives you the option to have a date or phrase on the 2nd leaf.
Vinyl
The most affordable and flexible option which can be applied to all smooth surfaces. We will apply a sealant which will waterproof the applique, but care will needed to be taken not to scratch the surface or it will over time, likely become damaged. Usually requires a 3-5 day turn-around time.
Embossing:
A unique way of personalizing your urn. Reserved for the pet series. While the urn is in it’s leather hard drying stage, we will take a slab of clay and emboss your pet’s name into the clay and attach it to the urn. A rustic and everlasting way to personalize your urn.
Fired-on:
A technique where we print out the desired name or phrase and apply to your urn then have it return to the kiln for additional firing, making it permanent. This is only available in 1 color brown. You will need to allow and additional 1-2 weeks for the turn-around time.
